New Coloring Book For Adults in progress

Thursday, 26 November 2015 by Bruce Rawles

Mandalas der Heiligen Geometrie (MDHG): German edition of Sacred Geometry Design SourceBook by Bruce Rawles - GeometryCode.comDoes anyone remember Mandalas Der Heiligen Geometrie (MDHG)? (I still have a few copies of this German edition of my Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook (SGDS) available, by the way, if anyone in the US would like to buy one; they are currently out of print. Just follow the instructions on this page if you’d like one of the few remaining copies in my inventory.) When I learned that the original German edition master files had been misplaced, I just figured that it had a good run for several years, and mostly put the idea of (laboriously) re-creating the book (for any language) on the proverbial back burner. This past week, however, I’ve been corresponding via email with fellow geometer and author Jay Goldner, who graciously donated his time and effort to make the German version over a decade ago. He was generously both the liaison with the German publisher (and pitched the idea for the book), and did the English-to-German translation as well; kudos to Jay! He is now working again with me in a similar capacity to make an abridged version of MDHG available in Europe (and perhaps elsewhere?) that will be an adult coloring book with a subset of the geometric archetypcal patterns that MDHG and SGDS have featured.

I keep hearing that these coloring books for adults are becoming popular again, which isn’t news for me, but fun to hear. I’ve enjoyed exploring these sacred geometric images artistically with colored pencils, pastels, since the early 1970’s and of course (in more recent decades) digital media and applications. I intentionally made SGDS spiral bound (which took a bit of research to find a good on-demand online printer/fullfillment after printing it locally for years before the online services were more available) so that it’s pages could be laid flat on a photocopy machine or flatbed scanner for making multiple copies for coloring, arts and crafts, enlargements for bigger projects, quilting, stained-glass, and so much more! …

Here are a few similar books … and another example series: Brand New Design Originals-Zentangle 1 Expanded Wrkbk Edition Brand New.

And since I’m (very appropriately) typing this post on Thanksgiving 2015, I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all, for your decades of support and interest in my books, websites, etc. :-)

Vibration Station Conversation – The Geometry Code Book: Chapter 3: Seven Hermetic Laws

Tuesday, 17 November 2015 by Bruce Rawles

Great Pyramid - Sphinx - Compass - InfinityDave Cohen (a.k.a. Davie Crockett) and I shared this conversation about “7 Hermetic Laws, 2 Thought Systems” which is Chapter 3 from the book The Geometry Code: Universal Symbolic Mirrors of Natural Laws Within Us; Friendly Reminders of Inclusion to Forgive the Dreamer of Separation on 15 November 2015, on his LA Talk Radio show.

Here is an excerpt (the first two sections) from Chapter 3 that served as a springboard for our conversation:

Seven Changeless Laws About Change

Universal laws or principles, known from ancient times, have long been revered by those seeking to find the unchanged, unchanging and unchangeable truth underlying all form and expression. Ultimately, we all seek the dependable, reliable and consistent: something we can honestly trust. Eventually we give up on trying to make our faulty inferences work from isolated, special cases (our lives on planet Earth) and the distortions of perception – we come to the realization that we must find rules that are always true and generalize if we want a happy solution to the dysfunctional practice of taking our personal interpretations seriously. If we base our choices on an ever-shifting landscape founded on differing opinions and values, how can we get our true bearings? If we attempt to judge from a world that not only changes with time and space but from person to person, and culture to culture, isn’t the very basis are we using flawed? It’s all pretty silly to rely on circumstances, conditions and ephemeral events that morph and vary with the whimsy of fate and the biases of our tiny human perspectives. But, one asks, what else do we have to go on? Upon what else can we rely? What cues for guiding our lives do work? It’s obviously helpful to find laws or principles that do not change. Otherwise we just have to keep starting over and over again, relearning every time the temporary guide changes, never certain, secure or serene about where we’re placing our trust.

Identifying With What Never Changes

There are seven Hermetic laws or principles that have been known since antiquity, attributed to Hermes Trismegistus of pre-dynastic Egypt. These laws work all the time, in every situation, regardless of one’s circumstances, geography, status, demographics or any other factors. They apply universally. These seven laws also have completely different meanings, interpretations and outcomes depending on which thought system or internal teacher we use to apply them with. Learning about laws is only truly helpful if we have a purpose intended for our liberation – a reason for applying the laws. As we become aware that we are never exempt from universal laws, we realize that our freedom waits for us to unlock the code and practice these laws with intelligent, thoughtful application. As we discover, the only truly helpful way to apply them is to apply them with the assistance of our ever-present, transpersonal inner guide; this helps us strengthen our identification with what never changes. Otherwise, we’re back to identifying with the changing, fluctuating, vacillating tides of fate, fancy and fantasy. Identifying our Self with what is eternal anchors our awareness in truth rather than what inevitably disappoints, decays and dies.

This interview is part of an ongoing series where we discuss one chapter (about one per month) from The Geometry Code book until we’ve gone through all 10 chapters, including the 7 Hermetic Laws from the Kybalion and related geometric symbols.

Great Pyramid - Sphinx - Compass - InfinityDave Cohen (a.k.a. We talked – among MANY other things – about specific topics that shook the scientific worldview several decades ago such as the Copenhagen Interpretation of the wave/particle duality, and subsequent discoveries such as quantum entanglement, and how these continue to affirm the idea that mind was no longer the ‘ghost in the machine’ after quantum physics became the superset of scientific thinking after the era of Newtonian physics that now incorporated (inclusively) both the mechanical and mental paradigms.

Here’s Vandorn’s writeup about the exhibit:

The best day for visiting the exhibition is on a Sunday: 2pm – 4pm. The parking is free. Traveling South on Fayetteville Street from Downtown Durham at the intersection of Durham expressway 147 and Fayettville Street you will come to an intersection with Lawson Street. Go through this intersection to the 1st left turn into campus. There will be a Guard Booth (a small brick kiosk) as you enter this small side street. You can park anywhere in this area and the adjoining two parking lots. The NCCU Art Museum will be in the same building that houses the Edward Riddick Music Building which is connected to the Fine Arts Building. These buildings are on the perimeter of the above referenced parking lots.

Address:
North Carolina Central University
NCCU Art Museum
580 East Lawson Street
Durham NC 27707
919-530-6211 Art Museum

Please join us for an exhibition opening reception at the NCCU Art Museum on Sunday, 13 September 2015 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm “VANDORN HINNANT: Explorer of Form and the Beauty of Number” an exhibition of forty works of art created between 1980 and 2015

What we experience as visual art can be viewed as the result of individual responses to a myriad of experiences; psychological / emotional / physical and metaphysical. Some art can be viewed as statements about responses to, and expressions of Soul’s human conditions. This inclination to visually record or to document an experience is, in part, an answer to the question: “What is the driving force behind the need we have to share and to communicate our experiences with others?” The artist’s creative response is a need to and/or willingness to leave behind some form of a record of their experiences.

New format for monthly bulletins

To provide me with more time to generate and gather material for new posts, I’m automating the monthly bulletins, starting November 1, 2015. You will still get the same content, but the format will be slightly different, with a compilation of all posts made during the past month. This will provide an additional benefit of automatically delivering a bulletin each month more consistently, regardless of how crazy my schedule happens to be – which was definitely the case last monthy – thanks for your patience! :-) BTW, if there’s enough interest for a WEEKLY bulletin digest (in addition to this monthly digest and the newer daily digest, let me know and I’ll add that third option.

(3) Request for Submissions

As always, please let me know how I might support you. Please send me any interesting items about sacred geometry or related interests … since everything is inter-related! If you would like to stay connected and network with kindred souls online, check out my pages on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn. I always enjoy connecting with both recent and long-time friends and colleagues and discovering new friends of friends :-) Thanks for your interest & support! :-) BTW, I always appreciate enthusiastic reviews on the Amazon SGDS book page, and the newer Amazon book page for The Geometry Code. It’s a good “win-win” way to cross-promote your work as well.

If you like to color with colored pencils (or other media), make 3-D fold-up geometric art, do stained glass, quilts, geometric arts and/or crafts, or just want an extensive reference/resource of geometric archetypes, patterns and essential line art, you might enjoy a copy of my first book, Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook: Universal Dimensional Patterns.

If your leanings are more metaphysical … and perhaps whimsical :-) … you might enjoy my second book, The Geometry Code: Universal Symbolic Mirrors of Natural Laws Within Us; Friendly Reminders of Inclusion to Forgive the Dreamer of Separation. It was originally going to have geometry and Hermetic Laws/symbolism as a primary focus, but in 2007, a reawakened interest in the spiritual masterpiece, A Course In Miracles – thanks to Gary Renard – shifted the primary emphasis to an exploration of the two thought fundamental systems we all vacillate between, and how we can gradually shift our mind’s identity to the happy one.

Vibration Station Conversation – The Geometry Code Book: Chapter 1

Monday, 24 August 2015 by Bruce Rawles

Great Pyramid - Sphinx - Compass - InfinityDave Cohen (a.k.a. Davie Crockett) and I shared this conversation about “The Question of Identity: Two Thought Systems” which is Chapter 1 from the book The Geometry Code: Universal Symbolic Mirrors of Natural Laws Within Us; Friendly Reminders of Inclusion to Forgive the Dreamer of Separation on 23 August 2015, on his LA Talk Radio show.

We talked about how examining the contents of our mind reveals two mutually exclusive thought systems: the kind, all-inclusive, 100% sane transpersonal thought system that make use of all symbols (including geometric ones) for the benefit of all … and the 100% insane ‘me first’ we/they personal thought system of ego, which denies shared interests in favor of special, separate interests.

This interview is part of an ongoing series where we discuss one chapter (about one per month) from The Geometry Code book until we’ve gone through all 10 chapters, including the 7 Hermetic Laws from the Kybalion and related geometric symbols.
