A few German sacred geometry books available for shipping costs only

Sunday, 21 July 2024 by Bruce Rawles

Update 21 July 2024: We’ve been in Arizona for exactly a year today, and I still have a handful of German books to find homes for, so I’m re-dating this post in case anyone would like to purchase a book for only my shipping costs!

(Originally published 25Jun2023):

We’re making good progress toward moving to Arizona (mid-July 2023)  so I’m anticipating having more time to do in-depth posts after our move. Meanwhile, I’d still like to lighten our load and not move these books yet another time… I’m offering (until mid-July, while supplies last) – limited supply; limited offer) asking only for my shipping costs (US only) or free if you happen to be on the central Oregon coast and can pick them up here in Yachats before we move! in the Tucson, AZ metro area and can pick them up.

German sacred geometry books are available for shipping only (for a limited time!)

I have a handful of both of my German-translated books:

  • Mandalas der Heiligen Geometrie (MDHG) das Universale Design der Natur (SGDS German edition)
  • Bewusst malen – Heilige Geometrie

(If you live in Germany, you’ll probably want to order the Bewusst malen – Heilige Geometrie book, still in print, directly from the publisher, Silberschnur Verlag, since the shipping from the USA to Germany is likely more than buying it locally.)

If you speak German or know someone who does and has the least interest in geometry, I am offering special FREE books (very limited supply) of both of these books if you cover my postage costs. If you live near Yachats, Oregon, Green Valley, Arizona, you can pick them up here and skip the postage expense. For details on these limited-time, limited-supply books, contact me.

Note that you don’t have to be able to read or understand German to enjoy either of these books, as they are both lavishly illustrated – FAR more imagery than text. Also, each copy of the out-of-print MDHG book has a unique set of die-cut fold-up models of the 5 Platonic Solids (included behind the back cover) that make a neat mobile if you add your own thread.

Please contact me before mid-July 2023 if you are interested in this special offer!

Here are a few more interesting geometry-related links (videos) that have crossed my path recently; several short introductory videos that add some useful and interesting additions to commonly cited facts:

  • Golden Spiral Symbol – What Does It Mean?
  • What Makes the Golden Spiral Symbol Special?
  • What is Sacred Geometry? (evidently using an AI-generated voice/script?)
  • How Does the Golden Spiral Relate to Sacred Geometry?
  • What is the Meaning of the Golden Spiral?
  • What are Some Examples of the Golden Spiral?
  • What is the Fibonacci Sequence?
  • … and several others…

Googled Geometries – and Free German sacred geometry books (limited supply, time)

Wednesday, 31 May 2023 by Bruce Rawles

Sometimes it’s fun to just let Google find geometric artistry and allow serendipity to serve up fascinating imagery rooted in inspiration from geometry. Here are a few finds du jour; if you find interesting examples (including your own) please send links or images my way. Thanks!

Google search results: geometric art

Google search results: 3d-printed geometric art

Google search results: 3d-printed geometric art - lamps

Google search results: 3d-printed polyhedra

My intent here is to fuel your geometric curiosity; try googling your favorite niches and/or interests combined with the word geometry and see what you find! Here is a book that looks interesting:

I believe the cover art for this Math Art book may be (or very likely inspired by) the 3D printed artistry of Bathsheba previously featured here on GeometryCode.com

In addition to Google, try the “Search this website” function in the upper right corner (laptop and larger screen sizes; scroll down to find on mobile devices) to see if I’ve already covered a geometric interest, since I’ve been posting on this site since 2007, and publishing geometric art books a decade prior to that, and collecting and exploring the subject a few decades before that!

We’re in the process of moving to another state (details soon) so I’m anticipating having more time to do in-depth posts after our move. So, to lighten our load and not move these books yet another time… I’m offering (until mid July, while supplies last) – limited supply; limited offer:

Monthly miscellany for mathematical musing

Sunday, 30 April 2023 by Bruce Rawles

Bubble colors (close up, hue shifted)

  • Thanks to fellow geometer, James Barrett, for this interesting update about tiling patterns: Newly discovered ‘einstein’ shape can do something no other tile can do.
  • A portion of this Coast-to-Coast program is on crop circles, which have exhibited some amazing geometries for decades.
  • The Quantum Revolution (12 episodes): “Gaia is proud to present a comprehensive series from Nassim Haramein who offers a quantum revolution to the way we think about the universe, quantum mechanics, consciousness, and our spiritual connection.” Geometry and physics are inexorably linked! I attended one of Nassim’s fascinating all-day workshops a couple decades ago, give or take.
  • 2022’s Biggest Breakthroughs in Math; one example: like 3D creatures able to discern situations that Flatlanders can fathom, sometimes we just need to add another dimension – in this case to solve a bubble problem.
  • Sacred Geometry circle art and some helpful how-to “Geometryptamine” construction videos by Zak Korvin.

golden spirals from pentagram fractal by Geotryptamine

Similar golden ratio, pentagram/pentagon, spiral constructions – with numerous variations! – are on pages 146-156 (among others) of Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook.

Geometric Inspiration and Education

Thursday, 21 April 2022 by Bruce Rawles

geometric art, color-filled intersections of simple 2D shapes shapesReflecting on the growth – explosion, really – of information available to us online compared to what we had access to just a few decades ago, I recalled that in the early 1970s when I was an undergraduate electrical engineering student at UC Davis, California, I used the card catalog in a long row of tidy wooden cabinets at the Shields Library – a building which covers an entire block of the campus – to look up everything I could find (at that time) on the Golden Ratio, Golden Number, Golden Section, Divine Proportion, Phi (ø) or Tau (τ) Proportion, Sacred Cut, Extreme and Mean Ratio, etc. and other synonyms for the ubiquitous (1 + √5)/2 ≈ 1.6180339887… value. This fascination was my response to a gift of two books – both with references to the golden ratio – from my mother who indirectly introduced me to this enthralling subject which later was popularized with the term “sacred geometry”:

  • Secrets of the Great Pyramid by Peter Tompkins
  • This Living Earth by David Cavagnaro

I found a few dozen books that led to other books and on and on into the mystical realms of the intersections of mathematics, ornamentation, art, music, architecture, history, and above all – mind. … But after checking out those books, I felt I had somewhat exhausted the more obvious references to this topic in this library. … Not anymore!

Fast forward a half-century; now googling Sacred Geometry, as of today (21 April 2022) we get a staggering 45 million results for this niche topic (including my evergreen minimalist GeometryCode Introduction to the subject now way past overdue for a revisit and update) and 481 million for the Golden Ratio!

The same curiosity still remains in my mind: What can be counted on that does NOT change? The laws of mathematics in general and geometry, in particular, seem relatively stable, fortunately, at least within the context of the Cartesian space-time paradigm. When I was in high school, I read Education and Ecstasy by George Leonard and I realized that to really dive deep and learn immersively, one needed to be motivated, inspired or at least have their curiosity seriously piqued or their assumptions about life challenged. Exploring some of the ideas that these readings opened up for me was enough!

Now there are a multitude of online offerings that can motivate young and old alike to explore esoteric topics like interconnectedness (e.g. quantum entanglement), geometric symbolism and synchronicities, and so much more. Another vital element that has a multiplying effect is FUN!

Here are a few quickly-found resources for educators and explorers in this realm (including teachers, home-schoolers) and philosophers of all stripes:

  • A simple but engaging animation showing basic 2D geometries morphing from one to another:
Shapes – Learn 2D Geometric Shapes – The Kids’ Picture Show (Fun & Educational Learning Video)
  • 10 Geometric Art Explorations (Study measurement, area, fractions, and more!) … The graphic of color-filled intersections of simple 2D shapes on this page was adapted from the image below the “6. Frac-Geo-Bot” section on this page.
  • … for about 23 million more links, try googling “geometric art science toys videos”
  • or try these categories on the GeometryCode website: coloring books for adults, sacred geometry art, sacred geometry books, sacred geometry coloring books, sacred geometry toys … just for starters

Enjoy! :-)
